EPA licence to operate Adbri Cement facility at Birkenhead renewed for 5 years

Adbri Cement (ABC) welcomes the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) renewing our Birkenhead facility licence to operate for another 5 years.

The licence contains conditions on environmental issues, including monitoring, managing and minimising dust and noise levels and continuing with our Environmental Improvement Program.

We thank the Community Liaison Group and the general community for the feedback provided to the EPA as part of the licence renewal process.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with the EPA and the community in building on the environmental improvements, which have included the additional dust controls and installing additional noise barriers, outlined in this fact sheet.

The goal of ABC’s parent company, Adbri, is to be Australia’s lowest carbon local cement manufacturer, with net zero emissions by 2050.

Local sports clubs supported by ABC include the Port Adelaide Bearcats, the Port Adelaide Cricket Club, the Port Adelaide Junior Football Club and Port Adelaide Baseball. ABC also supports local community groups such as the Port Adelaide Arts and Cultural Centre and provides scholarships for female engineering students at the University of Adelaide.
