Supporting Ocean View College students prepare for the workforce

Our CEO Paul Headd, Chief Operating Officer (Cement) Brett Brown, Birkenhead Operations Manager Peter Baker and Birkenhead Production Manager Mark Finlay warmly welcomed Ocean View College students to our Birkenhead manufacturing facility.

The Adbri leaders shared snippets from their career journeys and the exciting opportunities of working with Adbri and CRH.

Adbri has sponsored the college with play equipment for younger students and kitchen equipment and a herb garden for the senior food students.

As part of preparing for the workforce and to thank Adbri for our sponsorship, the year 11 students prepared a delicious morning tea for the Birkenhead team.

Paul shared that his career with CRH had led to him living and working in eight countries and, that regardless of general economic conditions, there was always a need for cement, concrete and the other essential products that we manufacture.

Brett shared that he had been an Ocean View College student, grew up on the Le Fevre Peninsula and still lives in and is an active member of this vibrant, diverse local community, with its beautiful beaches, rich history and busy working port.

Paul, Brett and Mark’s comments provided inspiring messages about the many career opportunities for students on the cusp of entering the work force.

Mark also shared that many Birkenhead team members had proudly been members of the Adbri team for decades and that Adbri Is a great place to work.

Ocean View College teacher Julie Dunkley said: “their [students] eyes were definitely opened to possibilities for future careers – which is amazing!”
